If this is your first Fencing North competition, I suggest you make yourself a nice hot beverage or maybe a cold drink and read this. Hopefully this will answer all your question.

If in doubt which competiton is suitable for you contact your coach or us. Please do not enter both competitons. If you do we will scratch you automatically from the Novices, no refund given.

The Bauble Ensemble is a competition with no age groups, but a minimum age of 10. For exceptions please contact us directly.

You will get asked if you are a member of Fencing North and FENZ. Membership or affiliation means that you have signed up to the fencing sport with our national body called FENZ. You will have done that as a regional member of Fencing North. This affiliation will give you a discount in this competiton here and a discount should you sign up again next year. So if you are thinking of taking up fencing and or are a school fencer, you might want to consider affiliating as a full member. With your affiliation you not only get a NZ fencing license, but you also support the sport in New Zealand.

If you have affiliated but are not sure about your membership number please contact us.

For this novice competiton you don't have to be affiliated but you pay a higher entry fee.

You will find there is a standard fee  and a late fee for this competiton.

It's $25 (late fee $35) per entry for affiliated members/ $35 (late fee $45) for non affiliated plus booking fees. Standard registration ends on the Thursday the week before the competiton: 26/11/2020. After that you have another week for a late fee registration. This helps us planning the event and dicourages late entries.

The Novice competiton will start after lunch. Once the standard registration is closed and we have the numbers of fencers participating, we'll publish and email a more precise timetable. It is likely that sabre will start as a mixed novice and expert event and might start in the morning. Epee and foil will start after lunch.

Trusts has a small selction of refreshments. There are cafes and supermarkets near by.

We will make lots of anouncements and guide you through the process of a regional competiton. We hope that this kind of event makes the transition between club events and Fencing North events a bit smoother.

Please follow us on FB and Insta for pictures and the latest information.

.

You are entering a mixed tournament, unless we have enough registrations to separate the poules by gender.

We will consider running separate gender poules with a minimum of 6 fencers per poule. Anything less is at the discretion of the DT on the day, as is the poule format, which depends on numbers.

The earlier you sign up the earlier we can say.

No responsibility is taken by Fencing North if the server slows down because you left it until the last minute.

There are no refunds unless we cancel the event. If you wish to apply for a discretional refund please contact the DT who will forward it to Fencing North. Refunds can be given in case of injury or crisis. We have been quite lenient in the past and will continue to do so if it is not abused. Remember we have to plan and pay for your event whether you fence or pull out.

Please check on Friday before the event to see if the timetable has changed. Please let us know if you are late for the event. We can help, if we know.

Every fencer is expected to help with set up and taking it down at the end. We fully understand that that is disruptive for competitors, so we do accept family members and friends helping instead.
